So after arriving in Cologone and getting off the train the first thing you see when exiting the Hauptbanhof (train station) is the massive Cologne Cathedral. I don’t really think I can explain the awe and the breath taking feeling I had seeing this building seemingly right in my face as I walked out into the courtyard.
From Wikipedia – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cologne_Cathedral
But the thing that stands out from here to me is – “At 157 m (515 ft), the cathedral is currently the tallest twin-spired church in the world, the second tallest church in Europe after Ulm Minster, and the third tallest church in the world.”
So I will get to see 2 of the the tallest churches in Europe this trip, Ulm Minster will be in a later post so for now enjoy my trek through this beautiful church.
